✨Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill (1998)✨ #femalevinylfriday with a QUEEN 💜! This may come as a surprise, since you know me mostly because of Classic Rock posts, but this album is and will always be in my top20 of all genres. I am not that into HipHop/Rap (but open-minded to learn more about it, here a special shout out to my gurl @carolsvinyl who created a fabulous playlist for me!! 😘), but this one...it’s hard to describe. One of those very few records that hit me deep in my soul whenever I listen to it. I remember the first time I saw the video to „Ex-Factor“ after its release, and the 10 year old me was absolutely captivated by the radiant Lauryn. I bought the album and loved it ever since - though I had to grow older, learn lessons in life to truly comprehend the genius behind it. I love the feministic empowerment (like „Doo Wop (That Thing)), the power („Lost Ones“), the soul („Tell Him“) - this album has it all. And the most beautiful mother to son tribute I ever heard, „To Zion“. Often named as one of the greatest albums of the 90s - totally agree on that! And now on a serious note: BLACK LIVES MATTER. Even if most of the feed has gone back to normal, it shouldn’t. There can‘t be a back to normal, because the „normal“ is wrong. Period. And everyone of us can do at least a little bit to make a change. So therefore, I would like to ask a favour of you - I would like to support more black artists and in general learn more about black music, so I need your suggestions! Which current black artists/bands should I check out (any genre)? Let me know! (And of course tell me your thoughts about this masterpiece 💜) #laurynhill #themiseducationoflaurynhill #vinyl #vinylcollector #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinyladdict #vinylsecretsociety #vinyladdict #vinyllovers #vinylcommunity #instavinyl #vinyloftheday #vinylgirl #girlswithvinyl #blackmusic #blmplaylist #hiphop #soul #90smusic #ilovediscogs #recordcollection #fckracism #femaleempowerment #feminism #womensupportingwomen
