A talented multi-instrumentalist, Cooder plays the music of banjo player Uncle Dave Macon with not only banjos and fiddles in his ensemble, but an electric mbira. What is an electric mbira, you ask? I didn’t know either (apparently it’s similar to an African thumb piano), but the sound is incredible. Coming off my folksy, country music high from yesterday’s Emmylou Harris, Over That Road I’m Bound is a welcome transition into a more experimental take on traditional, American folk music. • Key tracks: Heartaching Blues, Backwater Blues, and the titular track Over That Road I’m Bound To Go. All perfect for the dark rainy day we have here in the American Midwest. Thanks to @warnerrecords for sending me this beauty! πŸ™πŸΌ ••• Any new music you’re excited about? Tell me about it! Are you an artist about to release something good into the world? Let me hear it so I can feature it on my next #NewMusicMonday ! 😊🎢
