In the midst of all this chaos & uncertainty, whether it be pandemic or political, let's focus on something that is more lighthearted & palpable for a moment: records! And one of my favorite happens to turn 25 today: "GZA - Liquid Swords". 💙 • So I'm going to keep this text short & sweet for a change because my brain is a mess & I need that (maybe you do to). Let's talk Wu-Tang Clan solo records! I've already expressed my admiration for Wu-Tang Clan several times, they are one of the main reasons I got into hip hop a loooong time ago, but I've rarely covered the solo projects that came out from this project. So many of these members put out 10/10 records post Wu which is incredibly impressive when you start thinking about all the bands that have miserably failed at solo projects... Anyway, I'm straying from "short & sweet". • My favorite just happens to be today's birthday boy: "GZA - Liquid Sword", closely followed by "Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..." & I have to mention seomthing by Ghostface Killah, maybe "Ironman", since Ghostface is my favorite Wu-Tang Can member. But I mean "Tical" by Method Man, Ol' Dirty Bastard? So many good ones. ANYWAY. "Liquid Swords" is essentially a timeless masterpiece made from someone who's rightfully nicknamed "The Genius", & that my firends, is my one sentence, short & sweet review of this album. • Now I want to know what YOUR favorite solo album by a Wu-Tang Clan member is? ✨
